Alleviating the Planet One Step at a Time
Environmental issues are continuing to grow rapidly, making sustainable practices crucial. Let's start making eco-friendly choices when it comes to clothes.
The Rise of Fast Fashion
Fast fashion is a business model focused on rapidly producing clothing to keep up with micro trends. Stores like Shein, Zara, and Forever 21, are examples of Fast Fashion brands that use unethical practices.
What really happens to the clothes you get rid of?
With the rise of fast fashion, people are producing, consuming, and throwing out clothes at a rapid pace. While donating clothes may seem like an ethical solution, what many don’t know is the negative effects it has on the planet. While unwanted clothing is often sent to South Africa and resold to alleviate low-income communities, fast fashion practices overwhelm these countries. Textiles have made a huge impact on the environment with almost 100 million tons of textile waste created each year, 17 million tons ending up in landfill, and the 200+ years it takes for textiles to fully decompose.
